Binary Botanical Ale – Beer Reimagined

The Good Living Brew Company is a fermenting and brewing company located in in the United Kingdom. Their mission is to create a range of adult drinks with a focus on natural ingredients and processes.
As experienced male and female members of the brewing fraternity, they wanted to develop a moderate alcoholic beverage without the traditional bitter taste of beer that would appeal to both men and women. Their first product, Binary Botanical Ale, is specifcally designed to complement food and is outfitted with the proper decoration.
Binary Botanical Ale gets its sophisticated taste and aroma from naturally infusing it with organic hop leaves to make it tangy rather than bitter. Compared to traditional ales and beers it has a fine wine / cider taste to it, making it more accessible for beer sceptics. Craft beer can also mean aromatic and flavourful without the bitterness.
The idea to use hop leaves for the brewing process was inspired by history: “Hops are a wonderful thing – the spice of beer, the magic ingredient which provides flavour, bitterness and protection against spoilage. Before hops were used in beer, brewers experimented with many different herbs including bog myrtle, yarrow heather, ginger, juniper berries…. basically anything that could be locally sourced. We think its time to re-introduce some of that botanical variety back into our ales – starting with the hop leaf.”
Of course the unusual ingredient had to be part of the label design as well! The hop leaves perfectly embody the organic approach and natural freshness of binary. Thanks to the transparent material of the self-adhesive decoration they emerge from behind the white label part and create a harmonious transition from decoration to bottle. This clever design helps convey the idea of a botanical sketch etched onto the bottle. The combination of no-label-look and opaque areas is an unexpected visual and sure to attract attention.
