Kale&Me: Great taste, less waste!

Kale&Me is a Hamburg based start-up that offers juice fast products. The fresh beverages are made from high-quality and primarily regional fruits and vegetables that are cold-pressed to ensure all vitamins and minerals are preserved.

Not only the quality of the ingredients and final product are at the heart of the young company’s philosophy – processes, packaging and distribution are well thought-out and focused on sustainability.

Kale & MeBottle & Decoration – A Perfect Fit

Kale&Me offer their customers to return all packaging to them free of charge.

All they need to do is to rinse the bottles, collect the lids, insulation and cool packs and return all of it. In the next step the materials are either reused or recycled.

The bottles are made from 100% recycled PET. To ensure they can be recycled again, Kale&Me opted for innovative EcoStream labels. “We chose EcoStream labels because they support our overall sustainable concept and are a good fit for our end-of-life approach when it comes to the packaging. We want to reuse and recycle as much as we can – EcoStream enables that”, says Ascan Czerwonka responsible for purchase and operations at Kale&Me.

The EcoStream construction ensures easy and clean separation of decoration and bottle. The labels will shrink inside the hot washing bath and detach from the PET flakes without leaving traces of ink or adhesive behind. Due to the low density of the label it floats to the surface while the PET sinks. After separating them the raw materials can be returned seamlessly into the recycling stream ensuring complete reuse – this especially improves the quality of the recycled PET, therefore supporting circularity.
