Purpose

Reporting to the IT Manager the Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and administering IT infrastructure including network switches, servers, workstations and peripherals.

Essential Accountabilities

  • Analyzing and figuring out the system needs of an organization
  • Installing hardware and software for the network
  • Keeping systems operating efficiently by performing any necessary upgrades and repairs
  • Planning a strategy to maintain system security on the computers and the network as a whole
  • Optimizing and evaluating the system regularly
  • Assigning and updating security permissions for the system network
  • Training or directing users on the correct use of software and hardware within the system
  • Performing problem-solving tasks when alerted by a user or monitoring system
  • Provide end-user support, resolving technical issues and provides technical assistance for all operating system
  • Set up new hires with equipment and appropriate access to the company’s system
  • Maintenance of the business software applications
  • Implements, installs, configures, monitors, trouble shoots and evaluates existing and new operating systems
  • Confers with database programmers, analysts or other system administrators

Education

  • Four year college or university program certificate or two – four years of related experience / training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Safety

  • Will comply with all general safety policies and procedures in accordance with Company, State and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and communicate in some manner either by speech/ hearing or through written communication. The employee frequently is required to stand/ walk; occasionally required to sit, climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
